Party Reboots the Nexus, Levels Up at Last

“The party, having escaped a battle with a Morghast simulacrum, crossed a 150 foot arcane breach in the Inscrutable Tower using dimension door before reaching the director's audience chamber. In the director's office they looted a Rod of the Pack Keeper, a planar tuning fork each, scrolls of teleport and force cage, and an ancient delirium crystal, along with a mysterious inscrutable staff hidden in a sealed chest. Guided by the ghostly steward Ryan, they detoured to the observatory before confronting the malfunctioning planar Nexus, a bizarre chair-powered apparatus that had been running wild for fifteen years. Shutting down all eight chairs triggered arcane anomalies (a blink spell, irresistible dance, animated hostile shadows, and monster summons including a time spider, a psychofant, an entropic flame elemental, and a star-forged unicorn named Charlie) that the party fought through with eldritch blast volleys, cone of cold, and barbarian rage. With the Nexus finally powered down, Ryan sent the party home via teleportation circle to Emberwood Village, where they leveled up for the first time in a long stretch.”
